NZ Chapter Celebrates 25 Years
The New Zealand Chapter celebrates its 25th Anniversary during 2012. As part of our celebrations, the Chapter will host a special one day Seminar, ‘Doing business within Government: Multinationals to one man bands’ at the Intercontinental Hotel, Wellington on Thursday 28 June 2012. Mark this date in your diary now! The speaker line-up includes highly respected business leaders from industry and government. 2011 Examination Successes
Three Chapter members were successful in the Certification Examinations held in November 2011. Hayden George PSP® and Mark Halewood have gained the CPP® and Steve Butler has gained the PSP®. Congratulations to all.

Advancing Security in the Asia-Pacific
Over 200 security professionals gathered in Kuala Lumpur during the first week of December 2011 for the 5th ASIS International Asia-Pacific Conference. Delegates attended from across the whole Asia-Pacific Region as well as from the Middle East, Europe and North America. Attendees from New Zealand included Michael Pepper CPP® PSP® and Peter Frost CPP®.
Kiwis at Annual Seminar and Exhibits in Orlando
Seven Chapter Members attended the 57th Annual Seminar and Exhibits in Orlando, Florida on 19-22 September 2011. Three of those attending were the lucky recipients of the Chapter's draw for complimentary Conference Registrations. The winners were Trevor Morley, Peter Nichols and Michael Pepper CPP® PSP®. Other Chapter Members attending included Alistair Hogg CPP®, Murray Mills CPP®, Mark Massicks and Paul Coffey.
New Zealand Security Conference and Exhibition 2011
The New Zealand Security Conference and Exhibition 2011 was held on 17-18 August 2011 at the Rendezvous Hotel, Auckland. This event was supported by the New Zealand Chapter of ASIS International.

Australasian Council of Security Professionals

Fraud Awareness
Scams continue to be a problem worldwide, with New Zealand and overseas research showing that consumers are still being targeted and too many are still being taken in. 15% of New Zealand adults have been scammed or tricked out of money. Educating consumers about how to avoid scams when they are targeted is considered a key scamming prevention strategy both in New Zealand and overseas. Click here for more details.
Crime Prevention Partnership Forum
The 2009 Crime Prevention Partnership Forum was hosted by the New Zealand Police at the Royal New Zealand Police College on 11 August 2009. The Forum was opened by Deputy Commissioner Rob Pope followed by a series of presentations on the practical issues of Police / Industry partnerships as well as some of the legal issues to be considered. The presentations were followed by a workshop where participants openly expressed their concerns and discussed possible actions to address them. Click here to view the summary notes of the Forum.
