The Professional Certified Investigator (PCI™) examination was
administered in Wellington in November 2007. This is was the first time that
the PCI™ examination had been administered outside of the North American
continent. David Horsburgh CPP PSP PCI
gained his third professional security certification after attaining PCI™
certification through ASIS International. Horsburgh joins a very elite group
of security professionals worldwide in attaining the three certifications
offered by ASIS International.
ASIS International has been offering an
internationally recognised certification in the field of Security Management
through its Certified Protection Professional (CPP™) for nearly 30 years.
Thousands of security professionals throughout the world have embraced this
scheme to achieve certification, which has risen to be a worldwide benchmark
in security management. In 2002 ASIS International introduced two further
certification programmes; the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI™) and
the Physical Security Professional (PSP™).
The bar has been raised in the security profession and employers, contractors,
governments and even clients are now taking additional steps to ensure that
they are hiring or working with the most skilled and knowledgeable individuals
in the business. Professional certifications from ASIS International offer
them another screening tool - one that has backing and credibility of the
leading professional society in the world for those who are responsible for
security.
ASIS International Certification continues to gain momentum and the number of
certifications obtained worldwide every year provides an indication of their
value to security practitioners.
The International examinations for candidates outside the USA and Canada are
normally held on the first Saturday of November.
On 6 November 2004, the first ever PSP™ examination administered outside the United States and Canada was held in New Zealand. Other countries including Singapore, Belgium and the United Kingdom followed later that day. On 3 November 2007, the New Zealand Chapter scored another first by hosting the first ever PCI™ examination held outside the continental USA.
The New Zealand Review Programmes for the CPP™, PSP™ and PCI™, will commence in June 2008 with study groups in both Auckland and Wellington.
